Shredder wear parts engineered for longer life and higher throughput

Lawton AMSCO® has served the shredder industry since 1915, supplying wear-resistant castings, proprietary metallurgy, engineered wear solutions, and custom shredder components for automobile and scrap shredders, as well as demanding metal recycling applications.

Downtime costs more than wear parts

Shredder wear components take constant punishment from impact, abrasion, and high-volume processing environments.

When hammers, grates, liners, and caps wear prematurely, throughput suffers and maintenance intervals increase.

AMSCO® helps shredding operations improve wear life, reduce maintenance frequency, and optimize shredder performance through engineered wear-resistant castings.

Shredder wear parts and components

Hammers

Wear-resistant and impact-resistant shredder hammers are available in proprietary manganese steel and in  Stahlwerke Bochum GmbH (SWB) differentially heat-treated (DHT) alloy steel for extended life.

Grates

Single- and double-beam grates engineered for durability, with openings sized to fit your production requirements.

Liners

Side liners, main liners, and protective wear components designed for high-impact shredder environments.

Rotor caps and end discs

Engineered wear protection components for demanding shredding operations.

Breaker bars and anvils

Heavy-duty castings designed for durability and consistent shredding performance.

Additional shredder components

  • Roof plates
  • Pin protectors
  • Feed roll teeth
  • Reject doors
  • Front wall castings
  • Back wall castings
  • Hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, tie-rods, pins)

Metallurgy engineered for the application

Lawton AMSCO® designs wear solutions based on operating conditions, impact requirements, and wear patterns — not one-size-fits-all metallurgy.

Depending on the application, components may be supplied in proprietary manganese steel grades or proprietary low-alloy steels containing chromium, nickel, and molybdenum.

AMSCO® is the exclusive distributor of the SWB differentially heat-treated hammers in North America, which provide extended wear life with their high hardness on the tip and extended pin-shaft life with the lower hardness in the pin-hole area.

Designed to help shredding operations process more material

AMSCO® has a long history of custom-engineering shredder components to improve operational performance.

The company introduced an early weight-efficient hammer design that concentrated mass in the working area for improved effectiveness. AMSCO® engineers have also redesigned hammers for customers experiencing excessive wear in specific applications.

Front wall conversions for older shredder systems

AMSCO® has engineered front-wall conversions for older-style shredder machines to improve performance and reduce maintenance requirements.
